At SCAD there is no real music major (or there wasn’t at time of writing this) but there is a Music Composition Minor. It’s a year and a half of sequenced classes taught by Dr. Emily Burch and they all lead up to Music Comp. Fest.

2025 was the first attempt at what would become Music Comp. Fest. It was called “Sound Design Live” and was lacked many things seen at a traditional music festival. Ventors, full bands, merch, a social media presence, etc.

So, a rag tag group of 2026 Music Composition Students began the process of revamping this end of the year event.

It started with branding and creating a role of “Artist in Residence” and as sitting president of the Music Comp. Fest Committee, I decided to take a crack at it.

We decided early on that we would want merch and landed on doing a compilation CD, a t-shirt, and, of course, a festival poster

It was a lot of figuring things out on my own, all while being a full time student and musician. But I’m pretty proud of what I ended up with!

The design was heavly influenced by Richard Scary and modern poster designers like Little Friends of Printmaking, Travis Bone, and Michael Byzewski.

It took a lot of time, critique, and encouragement from friends but this is where we ended up!
